"Steam Ship KYLE"
Riverhead - Harbour Grace, Newfoundland
1913 to Present.
S.S KYLE was the first Scheduled Ferry from Newfoundland
to Labrador in 1913 under command of
Captain Lorenzo Stevenson.
Built in 1913 by Swan Hunter
& Wigham
Richardson Ltd in
Newcastle-on-Tyne,
England.
Extra thick Hull used as an Icebreaker for smaller harbours
Used in the Canadian National Railway.
Locates the New York Daily Mirror Newspaper chartered Mono-plane - Old
Glory "Heard Worldwide"1927
Carried Passenger, Cargo, Mail and a Dr. to Whom needed medical
attention around the Island
Carried Newfoundland & Canadian troops for preparation for battle on the
front lines in Europe.
Carried Fisherman back and forth from to Labrador.
Guy Earle starts the first Integrated Fishing industry in Newfoundland
and becomes the largest Cod fish industry in Eastern Canada. - Starts
new business - Kyle shipping Ltd

The SS Kyle was brought to its resting grounds February 4, 1967 by a major
Storm with heavy Northeast winds breaking her away from her mooring
blowing her to where she now sits to this day as shown above.
