While looking through my notes I found some additional information on the vessel THOS S. GORTON which collided with an iceberg. It happened June 10, 1956 off Twillingate. The crew rowed to Twillingate. The GORTON sank.

My father was in the Merchant Navy and sailed on the Thos S. Gorton from Carbonear to Halifax and Labrador from 1938 to 1941.Captain Guy Earle was master and Fred Rossiter of Carbonear was mate.
