The Pink- White and Green flag originated in 1843 in St. John's, Newfoundland. It is the oldest flag in continuous use of any of the former jurisdictions of what was British North America.

Original 1913 Chair from The Smokeroom - owned by Heber McGurk.
Heber was asked by Captain Guy Earle the last owner captain of the SS Kyle to have the Chair Re-upholstered. After Feb, 4 1967 storm to drive the ship to its final resting place it was forgotten.
 


The Queen of the Coal steamships the SS Kyle, Known as the Bulldog of the  North, Captain Guy Earle, Owner-Captain coming to port in the 60s. She gave 64 years of service's before her fate of  being grounded in shallow waters.

 permission to go forward with the project to find and provide funding for the Restoration
outside the Provincial Government.  They mentioned that we contact the

copy to the Mayor's office, Harbour Grace  in support of the SS KYLE as a stationary Fisherman's Monument,  Museum & more!

"Quick Overview of the SS Kyle History"
Built in 1913 by Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd in Newcastle-on-Tyne, England.
Length 220 ft Steam ship.
Arrived at St. John's May 20th 1913
First Scheduled Ferryboat.
Extra thick Hull used as an Icebreaker.
Used in the Canadian National Railway.
Locates the New York Daily Mirror Newspaper chartered Mono-plane - Old Glory "Heard Worldwide" owned by the Hurst Family
Carried Passenger, Cargo, Mail and a Dr. to Whom needed medical attention port to port
Carried Newfoundland & Canadian troops for preparation for battle on the front lines in Europe.

Carried Fisherman back and forth from Carbonear to Labrador.
Purchased by North America's youngest known Sea Captain Guy Earle.
Guy Earle starts the first Integrated Fishing industry in Newfoundland and becomes the largest Cod fish industry in Eastern Canada.  - Starts new business - Kyle shipping Ltd
Kyle breaks her mooring from a violent storm  Feb. 4, 1967 and is relocated at her final resting grounds in Riverhead Harbour Grace. Guy Earle died February 19, 1968
Sold to Provincial Government in 1972 for $4,000
Funding raised for paint in 1996 for Matthew Celebration

The SS Kyle around Newfoundland is Know only as KYLE, she is the most well known ship on the island to date. Please help us continue her legacy and dedicate the Memorial / Museum to those who she has served.
