The M. V. Algerine owned above, by Bowring Brothers Ltd. of St. John's Newfoundland. That ship was built for the US Navy in 1944 as the tug ATR-5, it was sold to the Bowring Company in 1949 and converted to a sealing, freighting and research vessel named Algerine, all Bowring vessels were named after Shakespear characters . Bowrings sold the ship in 1968 to W. J. Sumurah who changed her name to Arctic Bay and they in turn sold her to the Cuban Government in 1973 who then changed the name to Batilla De Maltiempo, in honour of that great battle. The ship was wrecked on the Cuban coast in 1994.

We would like to thank Wayne Connolly of Torbay NL for Identifying the above ship and her history.3/2011
